Medigas® E-news Launch

This is the first issue of the Medigas® Service & Testing Company weekly email newsletter or E-news.

The intent of the weekly emailed newsletter is to provide valuable information about the medical gas industry which is typically hard to find. In doing so, we hope to create a safer environment in healthcare for patients and staff because we believe that “Life Matters”

The focus will be on current as well as new medical gas technologies available, National Fire Protection Association Standard for Healthcare Facilities (NFPA 99) recommendations along with many other topics related to the medical gas industry.

This week I would like to introduce the Long Island Healthcare Life Safety Association. The L.I. Healthcare Life Safety Association was formed by a group of people involved in the healthcare industry to bring Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Inspectors, State Officials and Facility personnel closer together. These people make critical decisions in design, engineering, construction, inspection and ultimately the use of systems within healthcare facilities that people’s lives depend on.

Good Samaritan Hospital hosted the first educational seminar with a Firestopping seminar presented by Peter Schmidt from Firestop Solutions and a Safety Glass seminar presented by TGP Products.

St. Catherine of Sienna Medical Center Nursing Home hosted the second association meeting with a presentation by Tom Salamone from AKF Engineering which highlighted the Life Safety Code from the prospective of Healthcare between the 1985-2000, 2003-2006 and 2009 editions as well as highlights of NFPA 90A.
