FDNY issues Criminal Violations
Facility Personnel facing criminal charges

The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) has been issuing violations for new and existing medical gas systems in the 5 Boroughs.

These violations are for medical gas systems that have not been filed according to requirements set forth by the New York City Department of Buildings (NYCDOB) and the Fire Department of New York (FDNY).

Once a violation is issued, compliance is mandatory within 30 days from issuance. Unanswered violations from the FDNY will become criminal violations which hold the person responsible for the medical gas systems personally liable.

If you are not sure if the medical gas system within your facility meets all the applicable code rules and regulations you should be proactive and make certain that they do. If you find that they do not meet all the applicable codes, corrective actions should be taken.

Taking a proactive approach regarding this matter will save facilities money. Although there will be fees for services, the cost for legal fees, fines and lost time far outweigh taking the proactive solution.
